Abstrakty

The authors argue that the existence of a landscape depends on visual connections or the space of visual connections. The article traces the etymology of the term "landscape" and its status in scientific approaches. Selected aspects related to the genesis of landscape perception as well as the role of the landscape architect are addressed. A working definition of landscape is formulated, incorporating the concept of visual connection. The article concludes that it is appropriate to precede questions about the value or content of a landscape with inquiries regarding the conditions under which this phenomenon occurs and when it is most intense.

Autorzy dowodzą, iż powiązanie widokowe czy też przestrzeń powiązań widokowych jest tym od czego zależy istnienie krajobrazu. W artykule prześledzono źródłosłów pojęcia “krajobraz” oraz status w naukowym podejściu do niego. Poruszono wybrane aspekty związane z genezą percepcji krajobrazu jak również roli architekta krajobrazu. Sformułowano również roboczą definicję krajobrazu uwzględniającą koncepcję powiązania widokowego. Konkluzją artykułu jest stwierdzenie, iż zasadne jest aby pytania o wartość lub też zawartość krajobrazu poprzedzić pytaniem o warunki w jakich to zjawisko zachodzi oraz kiedy jest najintensywniejsze.
