Application of STEM and FIB methods in the studies of surface layer structure of heat resistant single crystal nickel superalloy after high temperature oxidation

Abstrakty
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy procesu wzrostu warstwy tlenkowej powstającej na żarowytrzymałym monokrystalicznym nadstopie niklu drugiej generacji podczas utleniania w temperaturze 1050oC przez 100 godzin oraz zachodzące w niej zmiany składu chemicznego i fazowego. Ponadto, analizie poddano procesy segregacji pierwiastków na granicach ziarn warstwy tlenkowej Al2O3 z wykorzystaniem wysokorozdzielczej mikroskopii elektronowej skaningowo transmisyjnej S/TEM. Przedstawiono szczegóły metodyczne przygotowania próbek z warstw tlenkowych metodą Focused Ion Beam (FIB) przeznaczonych do analizy z wykorzystaniem wysokorozdzielczej mikroskopii skaningowo transmisyjnej S/TEM.
The article presents the results of oxide scale growth analysis on a heat-resistant second generation single crystal nickel superalloy during oxidation at the temperature of 1050oC for 100 hours as well as chemical and phase composition changes occurring in it. Moreover, elemental segregation processes on the grain boundaries of Al2O3 oxide scale were analyzed using high resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy S/TEM. Methodological details of sample preparation for high resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy S/TEM analysis using Focused Ion Beam (FIB) method are presented.
