This survey paper deals with the problem of fault tolerant control of AC motor drives. Basic problems have been formulated and the classification of fault tolerant control methods has been presented. The main attention was focused to the IGBT faults of the two-level voltage inverter supplying AC motor drives. The most popular inverter topologies suitable for post-fault operation of the drive system have been presented and discussed.
