Detal architektoniczny niejako opisuje stosunek twórcy i użytkownika do całości estetyki, nie tylko budynków, ale dnia codziennego i sposobu użytkowania przestrzeni. Redukcja bądź rozbudowanie detalu stanowi dialog lub czasem wręcz kłótnię z przyzwyczajeniami i przyjętymi konwencjami. Detal jako fragment budowli stanowi w rezultacie swoistą miarę jego doskonałości - ta teza stanowi punkt wyjścia do rozważań o roli detalu architektonicznego w cyklu życia budynku.

An architectural detail describes the attitude of the creator and the user about the whole aesthetics, not only of buildings but also of the everyday and the ways of the use of space. Reduction and enlargement of the detail builds a dialog or even sometimes a real quarrel with the conventions and habits. In this way a detail as a fragment of a build structure is the real measure of its excellence - such thesis is used as the starting point to consider the role of a detail in architecture in the building's life cycle.
