Spośród wielu technik artystycznego kształtowania, zgrzewanie szkieł w piecu komorowym zwane fusingiem, jest jedną z bardziej popularnych, a także dostępnych dla wielu twórców. Jej geneza sięga starożytności, a najsilniejszy rozwój przypada na lata 50. XX w. w gronie amerykańskich artystów związanych z zainicjowanym przez Harveya Littletona kierunkiem – „Studio Glass Movement”. Amerykańskie eksperymenty z technikami piecowymi sprawiły, że fusing szybko zdobył popularność w innych krajach, także w Polsce. Do dziś zgrzewanie i artystyczne formowanie szkła w piecu jest chętnie wybieranym sposobem ekspresji artystycznej, zarówno dla profesjonalnych twórców, jak i amatorów poszukujących niecodziennego hobby.

Among the many techniques of artistic shaping, melting glass in a chamber furnace, called fusing, is one of the most popular and also available to many artists. Its genesis dates back to antiquity, and the strongest development took place in the 1950s among American artists associated with the direction initiated by Harvey Littleton – „Studio Glass Movement“. American experiments with kiln techniques made fusing quickly popular in other countries, including Poland. To this day, the melting and artistic formation of glass in the furnace is a willingly chosen method of artistic expression, both for professional creators and amateurs looking for an unusual hobby.
