W pracy przedstawiono badania zawartości sześciu metali ciężkich (cynku, miedzi, ołowiu, niklu, chromu i kadmu) w osadach dennych zbiorników miejskich zlokalizowanych w Gdańsku. Wyniki wskazują na znaczne różnice w zawartości metali w osadach różnych zbiorników zależnie od ich lokalizacji. Zawartość cynku wahała się w zakresie 31,9÷254,4 mg/kg s.m., miedzi 5,20÷338,5 mg/kg s.m., ołowiu 10,3÷103,7 mg/kg s.m., niklu 5,9÷17,5 mg/kg s.m., chromu 24,0÷278,5 mg/kg s.m. i kadmu 0,12÷1,74 mg/kg s.m. Najsilniej zanieczyszczone metalami były osady zbiorników zlokalizowanych na Potoku Oliwskim: zawartość wszystkich badanych metali przekraczała wartości tła geochemicznego. Z pozostałych trzech zbiorników najmniejsze zawartości metali odnotowano w osadach zbiornika „Wileńska”, najwyższe zawartości metali – w osadach zbiornika „Cyganka”. Ocenę stopnia zanieczyszczenia osadów metalami ciężkimi przeprowadzono stosując stopień zanieczyszczenia (Cd), wskaźnik geoakumulacji (Igeo) i wytyczne jakości osadów (SQGs).

The concentrations of six heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Cr and Cd) were investigated in bottom sediments of urban reservoirs in Gdańsk. The obtained data revealed that the concentrations of the metals differ between reservoirs. The concentrations of Zn changed between 31,9÷254,4 mg/kg d.m., Cu 5,20÷338,5 mg/kg d.m., Pb 10,3÷103,7 mg/kg d.m., Ni 5,9÷17,5 mg/kg d.m., Cr 24,0÷278,5 mg/kg d.m. and Cd 0,12÷1,74 mg/kg d.m. The sediments of reservoirs located on the Oliwa Stream were the most heavily contaminated with metals: the content of all metals tested there exceeded the geochemical background values. Of the remaining three reservoirs, the smallest contents of metals were noted in sediments of the “Wileńska” reservoir, the highest ones – of the “Cyganka” reservoir. The evaluation of sediments heavy metals contamination degree was performed by applying the contamination degree (Cd), the geoaccumulation index (Igeo) and the sediments quality guidelines (SQGs). The assessment based on these methods demonstrated that sediments were polluted with Cr and Cu. The concentrations of Cu and Cr were respectively even 33.8 (reservoir Kuźnia Wodna) and 25.3 (reservoir Spacerowa) times higher than their background values. Based on the potential ecological risk index (PERI) Cd made the most dominant contribution, with the potential ecological risk (Er) being determined as “moderate” or ‘considerable’ in studied reservoirs.
