Podczas pożaru budynek powinien spełniać pewne funkcje lub, inaczej mówiąc, mieć pewne właściwości użytkowe, które umożliwią ewakuację i ograniczą rozmiary strat materialnych.

The article discusses fire safety demands and their practical importance as well as the impact of the building structure and elements of internal division to fire safety. The functions of supporting structures, ceilings, partition walls, suspended ceilings and raised floors are shown. In the case of external walls the article discusses the paths of spreading of fire in the building and the function of external walls that is associated with the demand of reducing the possibility of spreading of fire to adjacent buildings.
