The government has accepted the draft resolution regarding the National Road Construction Programme for the years 2014-2023 (prospectively until 2025). As it emerges from the document, 3.9 thousand kilometers of motorways and expressways as well as 57 ring roads shall be built until 2015. According to this long-term plan, PLN 107 billion will be spent on the new roads which is 14 billion more than previously assumed. The monies for that purpose will be designated from the National Road Fund which is credited from, amongst other sources, reimbursement of EU funds. The programme assumes road maintenance expenditure amounting to PLN 46.8 billion and expenditure on modernizing road sections posing environmental threat of almost PLN 5 billion.
