Nowadays, truss structures are a commonly used solution among various kinds of buildings, mainly because of their advantageous structural characteristics and relatively low cost. Such objects are usually exposed tofatigue, mechanical and corrosion damage. Because they play important functions and their high reliability is required, their systematic diagnostics is very important. The paper presents a proposition of a method of automatic computer recognition of such structures in pictures (using image processing methods) during visual diagnostics, giving the example of a truss pylon.
