Każdy mieszkaniec państw wysokorozwiniętych traktuje rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy i jego efekty jako naturalne elementy współczesnego świata. Związane z nim procesy globalizacji gospodarki, postępu technicznego i technologicznego oraz wzrostu bogactwa krajowego i indywidualnego oraz związany z nimi coraz wyższy poziom życia, przez wielu ludzi przestają być dostrzegane i doceniane. Czy oznacza to jednak, że tenże wzrost musi być na stałe wpisany w przekształcenia gospodarki i zawsze musi nieść ze sobą pozytywne efekty? Czy jest jedyną drogą, jaką mogą podążać zmieniające się społeczeństwa, gospodarki i świat? Pytania te, oraz poszukiwanie na nie odpowiedzi w polskiej i światowej literaturze, stały się kanwą, w oparciu o którą opracowano prezentowany poniżej artykuł.

Every inhabitant of highly developed countries treats socio-economic development and its effects as natural elements of the modern world. Processes of globalization of the economy, technical and technological progress, as well as the increase of national and individual wealth and connected with it progressive growth of living standards, are ceased to be noticed and appreciated by many people. Does this mean, however, that this growth must be permanently inscribed in the transformation of economy and must it always have positive effects? Is it the only choice which societies, economies and the world undergoing changes have? These questions, as well as seeking answers to them in Polish and world literature, became groundwork on which the article presented below was elaborated.
