In contemporary conditions no European armed Forces are able to carry out endeavours connected with mobilisation preparation and conducting due to minimal engagements of assets assigned to maintain the military in peacetime. Therefore also the citizens have to be engaged in the national economy mobilisation process by rendering services for the benefit of the armed forces. The system of these services is discussed in two aspects: changes taking place in the national economy in the 1990s and changes taking place in the Polish Armed Forces after joining NATO structures. The article presents how these changes influence rendering services and, in consequence, mobilisation and combat readiness of the Polish Armed Forces. Moreover, the author presents the proposals of changes, the application of which can improve the services system and thus can increase defence capability that is the crucial guarantee of the state security.
