Artykuł zawiera analizę obrony terytorialnej państwa szwajcarskiego, będącej połączeniem woli obrony kraju przez obywateli z odpowiednio nakreśloną strategią polityczną, opartą na neutralności państwa. Celem artykułu jest analiza nietypowej w świecie polityki bezpieczeństwa Szwajcarii i przybliżenie tego tematu polskiemu Czytelnikowi. Autor wskazuje na dotychczasowy stan badan analizowanej problematyki, opisuje genezę i tradycje obronności państwa helweckiego, podaje jej podstawy prawne oraz wskazuje na uwarunkowania aktualnej polityki bezpieczeństwa w Szwajcarii. Dodatkową wartością artykułu jest dokładna analiza struktury i systemu dowodzenia milicyjnej armii szwajcarskiej oraz jej funkcji i zadań. W artykule autor udowadnia hipotezę, ze skuteczność obronności Szwajcarii opiera się z jednej strony na oddolnym zaangażowaniu obywateli, a z drugiej strony na wieczystej neutralności tego małego państwa.

The article contains an analysis of the territorial defense of the Swiss state, which is a combination of the will to defend the country by citizens with an appropriately drawn political strategy, based on the neutrality of the state. The aim of the article is to analyze Switzerland's security policy atypical in the world and to bring this topic closer to the Polish reader. The author indicates the current state of research on the analyzed issues, describes the genesis and traditions of the defense of the Helvetic state, provides its legal basis and indicates the conditions of the current security policy in Switzerland. An additional value of the article is a thorough analysis of the structure and command system of the Swiss militia army as well as its functions and tasks. In the article, the author proves the hypothesis that the effectiveness of Swiss defense is based on the one hand on the grassroots involvement of citizens, and on the other hand on the perpetual neutrality of this small state.
