Background: The logistics sector in Morocco plays a crucial role in the national economy, but continues to face significant challenges related to performance and operational efficiency. While maturity models such as the Supply Chain Management Assessment Test (SCMAT) offer valuable tools for evaluating logistics service providers (LSPs), their implementation remains limited. This study aims to address this gap by developing a customized SCMAT model tailored to the specific needs of LSPs. Unlike existing models, our approach introduces a new structure based on a question-and-answer format, redefining maturity axes to provide a practical and adaptable evaluation framework. Methods: A multiple case study was conducted using an action research framework involving four Moroccan LSPs. The research combined a comparative analysis of existing Supply Chain Maturity Models (SCMMs) with iterative collaboration with industry stakeholders to develop and refine the SCMAT tool. The methodology emphasized personalized assessment, aiming to measure and improve flow management and operational efficiency. Results: The implementation of the SCMAT model across the selected LSPs led to significant improvements in flow management and overall operational efficiency. Maturity assessments identified both strengths and areas requiring improvement. The SCMAT model proved to be a valuable diagnostic tool, enabling the formulation of targeted actions to optimize logistics operations and strengthen competitiveness. Conclusion: The integration of the SCMAT model demonstrates significant potential for improving operational process performances, particularly in emerging markets like Morocco. This study provides a practical, adaptable framework for logistics service providers aiming to overcome systemic challenges and elevate their competitive positioning. The findings also open avenues for future research, including the application of the model in different regions or industries to broaden its impact.
