Abstrakty
Contemporary challenges of global politics and economy concern mainly the equalization of humans life and rationalization in the management of Earth resources. Increasing globalization, the development of information technology and transport influence the dynamics of the societies. Growing migration opens new directions of the development of housing architecture in the scope of economy, structure and ecology. Implementation of low-cost, recycled and recyclable building materials is one of the most important contemporary areas for researchers and designers. The article describes the social context which indicates the growing need for new type of materials and structural systems. One of such a materials is paper. Four products of paper industry: paper tubes, cardboard sections (L- and U-shapes), corrugated cardboard and honeycomb panels are depicted as a building elements of existing architectural structures. Both the properties of paper and its connotation do not indicate its potential in the building industry. However, the directions of the paper industry development are signs that paper can play a surprising role in our civilization.
