The article presents modern belts for shoe presses used in paper machines. Shoe press belts improve the dewatering efficiency in the press part of the papermaking process and also ensure stable, long-term operation. Currently, shoe press belts are designed to deliver the most durable solution on the most demanding modern, high speed, highly loaded shoe presses. Modern tapes should have good structural stability with enhanced abrasion and wear resistance and also be resistant to chemicals, oil, and water. The tapes should also have resistance to impact damage, as well as resilience against tear. To meet this, the belts are made of high performance elastomer material reinforced with dimensionally stable synthetic yarns. The belt are available in different reinforcing structures and surface options to fulfill the demands of every shoe press. The belts (sleeves) from Valmet, Yamauchi, Andritz and Voith were presented.
