Conditions and results of transport operations in Moldova in 2004-2013

Abstrakty
Artykuł przedstawia uwarunkowania i wyniki działalności transportu samochodowego w Mołdawii. To najbiedniejszy kraj w Europie (w 2013 r. wartość PKB wyniosła 7962 mln USD, a wartość PKB per capita – jedynie 4983 USD), jest słabo rozwinięty, silnie uzależniony od importu paliw i surowców (w 2013 r. wartość importu wyniosła 5492 mln USD, a wartość eksportu – 2428 mln USD). Powierzchnie rolne zajmują 66% powierzchni kraju.
Road transport plays a very important role in the economy of Moldova. During the analyzed decade the share of this mode of transport in the transportation of goods and transport performance significantly increased, making road transport in this period the dominant mode of transport. Despite years of neglect of investment in terms of expansion and ongoing maintenance of linear and nodal infrastructure, freight road transport managed to resist the unfavorable economic phenomena and even a number of transport investments were completed in the discussed period, which allowed for the implementation of transport in a more efficient manner. The increase of the role of this mode of transport was possible mainly due to private companies operating on the market. The observed changes allow to assume that the freight road transport will continue to grow even though the dynamics of this development can have a various course.
