Abstrakty
Due to the increasing of the piracy attacks all over the world, the maritime transport is now facing increased risk and security problems. To prevent and minimize the impact of the piracy, the owners and the maritime administrations must take preventive actions/measures. One of these actions is the implementation at a global level of the Long Range Identification and Tracking system (LRIT). The system, mandatory under SOLAS Chapter V, Regulation 19-1, is now operational since one year and proved to be a useful security tool against piracy.
