This paper discusses a numerical prediction of the dynamic axle forces induced by a train or tram running on the track. The kinematic equations for a single coach, single bogie and single axle of the tram are shown here. The model assumpts an ideal wheel-rail single point contact. As an example the dynamic forces for a vehicle running on an uneven track are computed. The model will be coupled to the track-soil system and the vibrations in the free field will be able to compute. Furthermore, the entire model will be validated by means of vibration measurements that are planned at the occasion of the tests of the new tram line in Cracow.
