Abstrakty
The UIC suspension consists of the leaf springs and elements composing the linkages connecting the frame and the axleboxes of the wheelsets. The leaf spring may be considered as the element of the linkage. The pivoted link can be thought of as the so-called technical pendulum. The linkages of the UIC suspension may be considered as composed of a number of connected technical pendulums. The nominally cylindrical joints influence mechanical properties of the suspension. The paper presents the mathematical models of UIC suspension with emphasis on its longitudinal and lateral characteristic. The models have the form of elastic elements with dry friction. A five-parameter model with one dry friction slider, non-linear spring, two linear springs and bilateral displacement limiter reproduces the lateral characteristic of suspension. A nine-parameter model with four dry-friction sliders, four non-linear springs and one linear spring mechanics, may be directly implemented to vehicle dynamic simulations.
