This article is focused on the survey and analysis of accident data, road alignment, traffic data and environmental factors in EU and in Slovak republic in order to identify the relevant variables that make a strong contribution towards a better understanding of accident circumstances and safety measures and policies.Growth of motor vehicle production in the world is associated with increased motorization of population and their demands on equipment. Of all modes of transport, transport by road is the most dangerous and the most costly in terms of human lives.Therefore, tendency in area of developing safer vehicle is oriented towards two objectives. On the one hand, possibilities of crash avoidance are considered and on the other hand, potential from reducing of consequences resulting from road accidents is subject of research activities. Authorities and policy-makers have a huge responsibility in view of addressing tomorrow's transport challenges.
