The plastic strain localization phenomena are studied with the use of the theory of viscoplasticity and finite element method. The aim of the preliminary study is to check if the strain localization is sensitive to variation of parameters specifying the physical model and boundary conditions. The plastic deformation energy can be maximized in the process of the optimal design of boundaries and inclusions. The study proofs that it is possible to control the process of localized deformations.
