Abstrakty
Optical methods of strain measurement are a generic technology, which support life cycle performance, safety and reliability assesments and design optimization of objects varying in scale from micro-machines to civil engineering structures like buildings and bridges. Interferometric grid/moire fringe and image correlation based methods from a powerful set of tools for use in strain field analysis. One of the most useful optical methods for in-plane displacement/strain measurement and monitoring is grating interferometry. In the paper a new miniaturized optical extensometers based on low cost waveguide grating interferometric head are presented. Due to insensivity to vibration, small dimensions and weight, wire-less connections and automated fringe pattern analysis they can be used for measurement of displacements distribution in micro areas and for constant or periodic strain monitoring in crucial points of engineering structures.
