Combining a scannig technique, polar survey and digital photographs can be effective method of an inventory survey of historical structures. In the presented example an inventory scanning of the Cracow Barbican has been taken by auto-tracking total station Topcon GPT-820 Scan. The main structure block was scanned by 1mx1m grid, details of structure by 10cmx1Ocm and 5mmx5mm. Single points definig orientation and important details of object shape were measured by spatial polar method. A standard camera has been used to provide digital photographs necessary for wall surfaces rendering. The 3D model has been produced by CAD program and Topcon software Field Scan and PI 3000. Optimization of grid modules and adaptation of modelling procedure have let to work out the technology which can produce models which meet high structural and architectonic demands of inventory accuracy.
