Worldwide a lot of regulations are affecting the business transactions of all companies within the electronic and electrical industry. The special consequence of two of these regulations from the European Union - namely the WEEE directive 2002/96/EC (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and the RoHS directive 2002/95/EC (restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) - will be described below. But not only the European Union is implementing such legislation. That is why also an overview of similar regulations from outside Europe will be presented.
