Abstrakty
The ecological aspect of product design gets more and more important. The rethinking of the industry started with the directives of the European Union, EuP, RoHS and WEEE. Also a partial ban of NiCd batteries has shown the importance of an alternative power management for wireless low power devices. KERP has the goal to demonstrate with the eco mouse that an alternative power supply for low power devices can be environmentally friendly and successful in the market. After a detailed analysis, double layer capacitors were chosen as means of energy storage, because of their exceptionally high capacitance. When using double layer capacitors a converter usually has to be connected to the outlet side for voltage adjustment. On this basis different converter-capacitor concepts are worked out and are optimised for ideal operating time. Also methods of charging double layer capacitors are shown in order to make load times as short as possible. All these technical expertises are applied in the eco mouse and show that an alternative energy supply is also promising for other products.
