Development of the GPS system made an opportunity to use it in problems associated with determination of heights of points. As a result of elaboration of GPS observations ellipsoidal heights are obtained, which are not directly applied in geodesy. For determination of orthometric (normal) heights, knowledge of geoid model (quasigeoid), i.e. separation of this surface from the ellipsoid is essential. It can be provided from knowledge of heights of a few points on which GPS observation were performed. In this report we show determinations of normal height with use of GPS observations and the model of geoid introduced by the Surveyor General. The heights of points calculated in this way were compared with heights obtained from levelling measurements tied to the national vertical network.
