Weak natural seismic activity is documented from the Opava area, northern part of the Moravian-Silesian region, Czech Republic. The last more important earthquakes occurred in this region in February 20-21,1999. Following source parameters were obtained using spectral analysis of seismic signal from local station "Hradec nad Moravici" for the most intensive shock with local magnitude 0.8: source dimension (Madariaga model) 53 m, seismic moment 9*10(10) Nm, stress drop 3*10(5) Pa, average displacement 0,5 mm and seismic energy 8*10(4) J. The new local stations (HRMC, ZLHC, ZARC) worked as self-contained instruments under the regime of triggered records. Records were stored on the hard disk of PC. Recorded seismic events can be divided into three main groups: local seismic events, mining induced seismic events and undefined parts of teleseismic events.
