Abstrakty
CERGOP is a long range European project focusing on fhe monitoring measurements of ongoing tectonic deformation processes in Central Europe. In 1994-98 CEGRN, the Central Europe GPS Geodynamic Reference Network was established and monitored with high precision GPS measurements on 31 sites in 11 countries. In the following years we intend to extend and partly densify this network, while keeping to strict design rules. The main objectives of CERGOP 2 are (i) the maintenance of the Central European Terrestrial Reference Frame (CETRF), (ii) provide a reliable 3 dimensional tectonic velocity field covering the Central European Region and integrate this into hierarchically higher level (i. e. global) tectonic models, (iii) geophysical interpretations, (iv) extension of the Central European Regional Geodynamic Network to include new, tectonically relevant sites in the area of study, (v) support local area geodynamic research, environmental studies, seismic hazard assessments, meteorology etc. in the Central European Region based upon the high accurasy space geodetic measurements, carried out on an integrated geodynamic network, The CEGRN. Two new developments should be pointed out since the EGS meeting in the Hague. One is the new approach to the CEGRN GPS permanent stations - which may be developed to a multipurpose and interdisciplinary sensor array. The other is an initiative to unify the ational high precision GPS networks in Central Europe, which were developed before or ndcr CERGOP, having at least one order of magnitude higher spatial density than CEGRN.
