Abstrakty
Thc article presents a numerical simulation ofa utililty boiler OB-380 in the Thermal Power Station "Oslomej", Republic of Macedonia. Thc coal-fired boiler has aiready reached its design operational age and certain reconstruction clutches will be inevitable soon. Fluent CFD sofiware was used as a tool to create the model in 3-D domain. The simulation results were compared to the available data gathered from the boiler monitoring system. The presented test case shows that a complex three-dimensional computation of the boiler furnace characteristics can facilitate the solution of many difficulties related to its current operation or scheduled retrofit; for instance, altering burner system or installing OFA ports. Presented method seems to be an attractive way of analysing the influence of the boiler design to its operation and how planned changes of the fuel supply system, fuel type and milling quality would affect heat transfer, temperature distribution, heat fluxes, combustion effectiveness, level of NOx emission, crosion of heat exchanging surfaccs, as well as other issues of interest.
