The contemporary enterprises have found themselves in a situation in which the ability of dynamic adaptation to the changing market conditions becomes the crucial factor of competitive advantage. It means that all the employees of enterprises who are responsible for and engaged in the processes have to be equipped with appropriate tools that would enable them taking quick, easy and effective improvement actions. It concerns both the employees of executive positions and those who are directly engaged in the realization of manufacturing processes. The attempt of solving this problem will consist in preparation of author's methodology of selection and application of quality management tools, ac- cording to the needs of the manufacturing process improve- ment. In the situation of wide access to literature, gaining knowledge concerning an instrument, its application, etc. does not pose a problem; the problem is a great variety - making access to the most useful instrument, in given technical and organizational conditions of a process, difficult. So far prepared classification of quality instruments puts in order theoretical material; however it is not accurate enough to indicate "paths" of searching out the required, in a given moment, instruments. Available manuals comprise reviews of tens or even hundreds of instruments. While delegating powers and encouraging employees participate in quality matters, one often forgets that they may easily get lost due to the lack of abilities to move in the cobweb of numerous required in the case of operating decisions and executive actions. The attempt of solving this problem consists in preparation of author's methodology of selection and application of quality management tools, according to the needs of the manufacturing process improvement. The presented method of criteria matrix is one of the elements of the methodology.
