Effective company management, the use of new and modern methods and techniques of managing, require the right quality data that can be provided by integrated information systems. Therefore, the bigger number of small and medium-size companies have decided to introduce ERP class systems (ERP II now) although they have expensive. However, the alternative solution cannot be easily found. The article briefly presents the methodology of the integrated information systems implementation, reviews methodologies described in literature and put into practice, and points out the limitations when they are used in small and average-size companies. Next, the general model of the integrated information systems implementation is discussed with the careful consideration to all activities performed at the pre-implementation stages which are described in details: 1) the analysis of needs and the working conditions of a company, 2) the structure of a model of a widely defined production process (in a company) supported by an integrated computer system; 3) the structure of integrated information system model . the configuration of a computer system; 4) making out the pre-implementation work schedule. All the stages are completed on the basis of a prepared database that includes: the production process model, the set of factors that influence the realization of production process, algorithms of separate process realization, the model of an integrated information system, and a standard schedule of implementation. The stages are provided with practical examples. Finally, the main focus is on the most important factors that determine the failure of the realization of the implementation projects.
