Selection of source images parameters for lossful image compression using fractals

In the article there has been proposed a new method of image compression using so called fractal source images which are a basis of a vector quantization. The method substitutes parts of a image by linking them with parts of a fractal with known parameters. The outcome of a research on the selection of parameters for she proposed algorithm has also been presented. The described method gives good results for images with not many details, edge elements etc., up to the compression level ca. 5:1.
