The effect of the front wall inclination and the mutual position of casing and diffuser on thermodynamical losses have been investigated. The effect of the outer-casing shape variation was studied. In addition, the influence of taking-out for bearing cover on the loss factor has also been tasted. The computational model employed as the input a measured inlet velocity profile. Some internal rib and reinforcement were neglected in the model. A 3D model was used, but the symmetry of the flow field was taken into account. Only half of the flow channel was being treated in the computation. The results were compared with the available experimental data.
