The Polish Library in Paris conserves a manuscript entitled "Mineralogy Course at the Imperial Academy of Warsaw for the years 1858/59 with 3 tables by Professor Jerzy Aleksandrowicz. Jerzy Aleksandrowicz ( 1819-1894), a highly respected botanist and director of the botanic garden in Warsaw, was also in charge of giving mineralogy cour- ses. His manuscript is a unique testimony to the content and organisation of mineralogy teaching in Warsaw in the 19th century. We compared the content of Aleksandrowicz's course with the mineralogy teaching programmes at the University of Vilnius and the Mus- eum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, as well as with some mineralogy manuals. Aleksandrowicz dispensed the same teaching programme as the most important mineralogical research and teaching centres in Europe.
