EN

The idea of sustainable development is a response to civilization threats, having their roots in the model of economic development and growth not taking into account environmental protection. This idea has been included in numerous EU documents and in the Polish Constitution. Sustainable development aims at integration and harmonious cooperation between the economy, society and natural environment. It should create challenges, opportunities and motivations without barriers of growth. As regards environmental protection, the biggest limitations of industry development and growth in Poland are connected with environmental regulations, particularly the lack of clarity and precision as well as permanent changes. The examples of regulations related to water protection and landfilling of solid wastes are discussed in the article.
