Today, the modern spinning process is not imaginable without computer based information systems. Supported by sophisticated measuring and control devices, these systems proved to be very helpful in providing the accurate and current data for management and control of the spinning process. The contribution presents some experiences regarding the processing of spinning data to support the yarn engineering and fibre blend optimisation processes. Supposing that the yarn process is well chosen and production machniery well adjuste, by employing the above mentioned techniques, the majority of yarn cross-sectional variations and other problems related to yarn appearance, or yarn properties, respectively, can be avioded.
