Abstrakty
For a drilling ship, one of basic (major) systems is the dynamic positioning system whose power output depends not only on weather parameters but also on dimensions of the ship. The DP system power is very high, thus the overall dimensions of the ship are considerably influeneed by weight and dimensions of the ship power plant. The article presents approximate method of determining power output of the dynamic positioning system for the drilling ship, that can be useful at the stage of preliminary design.
