The results of investigations of mechanical properties with high deformation velocity for a representative group of high steels for welded ships structures are presented in this report. The investigations were carried out in the Navy Academy and the Technical University of Gdańsk within the research work on the elaboration of high strength steel characteristics for Polish shipbuilding for many years. The results obtained in investigations were used to form a fragment of the expert program "HSLA-QT" partly concerning the influence of deformation velocity on the mechanical properties. The proposed correlation formula may be helpful to evaluate the influence of the deformation velocity on mechanical properties.
