A preliminary analysis of the chemical reaction dynamics of 1,2-epoxypropane, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) reacting with inorganic fluorides is presented. Some dynamics parameters of the fuel reacting with NF4BF4 and NaBrF4 are acquired. The process of the state inorganic fluorides mixing with the liquid fuel and the condition of detonation in confined or unconfined test are studied in theory and experiment, and the activation energy Ea, the reaction order of the gaseous fuel n and the ignition delay time tid are determined by means of experiment. The experiments if liquefied petroleum gas ignited by BrF3, are performed in a vertical detonation tube. The results show that detonation is avaliable when the content of oxygen (by volume) is more than 31.5%. Detonation wave parameters were recorded y piezoelectric and infrared transducers. At point 2.2 m away from the jet the maximum overpressure was about 2.8 MPa and the temperature was more than 2700K in these laboratory tests. In the unconfined test the 1,2-epoxyproprane and Bromine Trifluoride within a canister are dispersed by detonation of an explosive charge. After entrapped air the reaction released a large quantity of free radicals which make the rate of chain-branching much quicker than that of chain-breaking, and cause chain ignition and even detonation. The experimental data show that the overpressure of shock wave is 0.18 MPa at 4 m away from the device with 3 kilograms of 1,2-epoxyproprane.
