Hydrodynamic influences induced by ships passing the navigable canals - the new navigation safety criteria

Paper presents problems defining ship-induced loads on navigable canals. New safety criteria are proposed for navigation in restricted waters, based on ship - induced reverse current speed and wave height. The new approach is illustrated by example calculations for a modernized part of Szczecin - Świnoujście waterway. The paper presents also more commonly used criterion - speed of propeller stream at the bottom.
