W artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie metody wyważonego środka ciężkości do określenia strategicznej lokalizacji obiektu logistycznego przy możliwie najniższych kosztach transportu, z zastosowaniem dwóch metryk: prostokątnej oraz euklidesowej.

The article presents the application of balanced center of gravity method to determine the strategic location of the logistics facility at the lowest possible cost of transport, taking into account two metrics: the rectangular and Euclidean ones. The center of gravity method is used to define a single logistics object's strategic location. This method is especially important in a situation where the company builds logistics network and must decide where to locate manufacturing plants, warehouses or stores. The method uses individual dispatch and receipt points' location in the form of geographic coordinates. To minimize transport costs, optimal location of logistics facility is determined. Center of gravity method is used when several providers and customers are considered. The choice of location should be multi-aspects decision. This analysis should also take into account current and future road infrastructure, availability of space, as well as the possibility of skilled workers employment, etc. However, when the investment conditions are very similar, distance between certain logistics chain links may be decisive. Creating a location model without space restrictions may prove being noteworthy in such cases. However, such solution to designated place cannot be treated as a final decision, but merely a statement of area potential.
