W grudniu 2008 r. otwarto pierwszą linię Krakowskiego Szybkiego Tramwaju. Jest ona najnowocześniejszym elementem infrastruktury komunikacyjnej miasta. autorzy artykułu przedstawiają jak doszło do realizacji tej inwestycji. Obecnie trasa ma długość około 11,5 km i łączy północne dzielnice miasta oraz obszary południowe z centrum Krakowa.
The first line of Krakow Fast Tram was opened on 12 of December 2008. It is so far the most modern part of the transport infrastructure in the city, equal to similar solutions in highly developed European metropolises. The authors of the paper describe each step of the vital investment. Presently the route of the trams about 11,5 km long and it links the north and the south of the city, running right through the centre. As the authors stress out, the route is located along the busiest transportation path of the city, therefore answering to a great need for faster in-town communication service. It is to be expected that the first line will be an origin to for constructing a whole network for fast tram transport in Kraków, which will help its inhabitants and visitors, move smoothly around the city.
