In the article, the author attempts to answer questions troubling many owners and operators of sewage and water systems. Among these are: does leaky pipeline mean a risk of huge fi nes, high compensations or even imprisonment? The author implies that, while no regulations state direct punishment for neglecting the pipeline condition, its consequences, such as polluting the ground water and soil, may be treated as felony. A number of valid laws is cited in the article, their signifi cance left for the readers to evaluate. The author also describes the design process of a new tool for pipeline tightness measurement, whose prototype is now awaiting clients' testing.
