Abstrakty
SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum lnterference Device) and magnetic flux transformers are used in investigations of magnetic fields originating in a human body. The third generation of SQUID sensors based on conventional superconductors, operating at temperatures far below 4.2 K, is currently being developed. The applications include: integrated miniature magnetometers and SQUIDs arrays for the cryogenic detectors. The sensors are stable in time. Magnetometers based on high-Tc SQUID have achieved field resolutions better than 10 fT/√Hz at an operating temperature of liquid nitrogen 77 K. High-Tc SQUIDS can be incorporated into electronic gradiometer systems with gradient resolution of 1 fT/√Hz cm when measurements are performed in magnetically shielded room. Discovery of superconductivity in MgB2, having the critical temperature Tc of the bulk material 39 K, gives new perspective for application in electronics and SQUIDs.
