From the beginning of the 1990's motors slowly found there way into the HHD Industry. Today directional mud motors are the most proven and common method utilized by HDD contractors to complete installations in hard rock formations or projects where hard obstacles are along the trajectory to drill. In these cases HDD drilling uses a bottom hole assembly (BHA) that is capable of creating the well bore and inducing a curve in the trajectory. Drilling with mud motor posses clear advantages both technologically and economically over other drilling systems.
