The article presents the similary criteria of scientific branches and their application for an analysis of branches entering into the compositions of science of technical devices maintenance. It was assumed that scientific branches could be compared in respect of a cognitive objective, a subject of research work and substantial engagement. The criteria were used in the course of an analysis of the similarity of the following branches: maintenance economics, maintenance organisation and maintenance technology grouping eleven operational branches.
