The paper presents basic requirements set for the modern electric microdrives. At the Division of Designing Precision Devices, Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics (ZKUP, IMiF) there have been designed microdrives based on classical micromotors. At the same time, there have been developed techniques of experimental studies as well as specialised measuring instruments. Additionally, methods of computer modelling and simulation have been improved. It is impossible to carry out a design process and develop prototypes without these tools. In the content of this paper, there are presented current results and trends of the research carried out at ZKUP and regarding the mentioned field.
