The main purpose of a presented paper was to summary basic features of long railway tunnels and to compare proposed parameters of the tunnel Prague – Beroun to similar structures. It can be seen from the presented data that main features of very long tunnels was very significantly. In each case maximum eff ort should be made to optimise the design and to reduce final cost with retained safety. Currently prepared tunnel Prague – Beroun will be one of the longest railway tunnels after its completion. Presented data showed that proposed basic features of this tunnel generally comply with concepts of the similar tunnels.
