The paper presents the development of a computational model of design of ball screw threads. The model is the basis for a computer program which calculates geometrical features of the thread for precisely given backlashes and contact angles. The program makes it possible to create a data base of a new generation of ball screws of quality competitive to foreign ball screws. The simulation allows one to better select the ball screw in the case when the criterion of the selection is the mass minimisation and maximisation of the basic dynamic axial load.
