The paper is devoted to the problem of existence of two qualitatively different behaviour of the Timoshenko beam on an elastic foundation depending on the parameters of the system general and particularly of the flexibility of the elastic foundation. The characteristic boundary in the parameter space is described by the equation : Elc - k'G (k'GA² - Ic) = 0. The particular cases of travelling load are discussed in the paper.
